Let me start this review of by getting the two biggest complaints out of the way. First, yes, I know, once again this bar is not located in Philadelphia. Second, yes, I know, this bar is located inside of a mall. Now that I have that out of the way, let me ask you when was the last time you went to a mall and had a pint of Dogfish Head Pangea or cherished of bottle of Sam Adam’s ultra limited Chocolate Bock? Exactly, so just erase the fact that it’s located in a mall out of your mind. There are benefits to the location anyways. It happens to be located about 10 feet from the nicest theater in the area, so after you get drunk enjoying a few high alcohol beers what better way to sober up than sitting through a movie?
As far as beer selection goes, Manny Browns has to be one of the top bars in the Philadelphia area. They have 24 beers on tap, of which 17 are quality choices that are ever changing (they also constantly have Stella Artois, Guinness, Blue Moon, and Leinenkugel on tap, I just don’t consider them quality micro-brews). From time to time you will even see such limited beers as the above mentioned Dogfish Head Pangea, Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA, Founders Breakfast Stoudt, Founders Backwoods Bastard, Rogues John Locker Stock series, and Oscar Blue Ten-Fidy. They also have about 50 bottled beers in stock as well too.
Once you get past the mall setting, you will realize that Manny Browns is actually a really relaxed, laid-back bar. It stays open normal bar hours as well, so you have plenty of time to sample all the beers. I definitely recommend at least stopping in and taking a look at the chalkboard beer menus next time you go to the movies. I think you’ll be more than impressed and end up staying.
